Charities

By taking part in the event, participants are helping to support some worthwhile causes. Solely from proceeds of the events that have taken place so far so far, we are delighted to have been able to make donations to the Sepsis Trust , Papworth Hospital Charity , and Help for Heroes , totalling £8,085. There have also been other individual fundraising efforts from runners, friends, and families, adding a further ~£1,000.

Why these charities?

Our friend Rich Walklate (aka Roly) received world-class treatment at Papworth Hospital, after which he was able to come back to full fitness and continue to achieve incredible things including the Everest Marathon and representing GB in anriathlon in his age-group.

It is suspected that his death was caused by sepsis. The UK Sepsis Trust have done excellent work in raising awareness and educating on this deadly condition.

After his death the family discovered that Rich was a supporter of Help for Heroes by way of a regular donation.

We are invite all participants to raise donations from their family and friends. If 100 entrants each raised £50, these excellent charities could benefit to the tune of £5,000, even before any surplus from race entries is taken into account.

Please consider supporting in any of the following ways:

Sponsorship form:

Use a Roly's Run sponsorship form to raise money from family and friends. You are welcome to return forms and money to us to process. This option may seem a little old fashioned, but it avoids hard-earned funds being used to pay processing fees.

Charities Aid Foundation:

Go to the Charities Aid Foundation website , search for one of our charities and donate directly via card / PayPal. If using this option, please forward the donation confirmation so can can keep track of all funds raised on behalf of the event.

JustGiving:

Donations are paid directly to the charity, but incur JustGiving payment processing fees. If using this option, do let us know your JustGiving page details so we can add what you raise to the event fundraising totals.

Donation via SI Entries:

If you are entering as a runner, make a one-off donation via the SI entries system. We will cover the SI processing fees to honour the intended donation amount. When entering please nominate the charity you would like to support or select 'No preference' if you are happy for your donation to be split between the three.

With all options, Gift Aid can be reclaimed as long as the donor is a UK tax-payer.

The family is grateful for any contribution that you are able to make to our fundraising efforts. Thank you.
